Frequently asked questions
Is RON legal nationwide?
Most U.S. states authorize RON. Acceptance by the destination state, recorder, or agency can still vary. See /state-compliance for a state-by-state breakdown.
What do I need to start?
Government-issued photo ID, a camera-equipped device with a stable internet connection, and the document you want notarized.
Can you notarize for a signer who is out of state or abroad?
Yes. Florida-commissioned RON reaches any signer with a camera-equipped device and a stable connection, wherever they are, inside or outside the U.S. Send the document along with the signer's full name, email, phone number, and current location, and I confirm a session time that works across time zones.
Can you notarize the same day I reach out?
Most same-day requests are notarized within about 18 hours of first contact, depending on the document and the signer's availability. If there's no rush, let me know and I'll schedule it on the standard timeframe instead.
Do I need a witness for my session?
Only if your document requires one. When it does, I send a separate witness invitation link so the witness joins the same video session as the signer. If I'm hosting the session, I can request platform corrections afterward; on a session someone else scheduled, I don't have access to that platform's support once the session ends.
My notarized document looks different than it did during the session. Can that be fixed?
That's usually the video platform's document-consolidation step shifting text after the fact, not an error in the notarization itself. On a session I hosted, I can request a correction directly with the platform. On a session someone else scheduled, I don't have access to that platform's support once it closes, so you'll need to reach their support team and describe what moved. Tell me ahead of time if you want formatting locked before the session starts, and I'll build that into the setup.
